Since starting my Bachelor of Science in Forestry, I’ve been diving into this field, from trekking through forests to collect data to sitting down with communities to draft operational plans and constitutions.

• Spent a month in Khotang District observing local forest management and community roles.
• Studied traditional forest use in mountain areas like Okhaldhunga and Solukhumbu.
• Worked with community forestry and scientific forest management in Makawanpur, Bara, and Chitwan.
• Gained experience across diverse ecological zones and local forestry governance in Nepal.
• Examined how traditional knowledge and scientific methods combine to solve forest management challenges.

• Developed allometric equations for seven major tree species, involving fieldwork, lab analysis, data entry, and data cleansing.
• Assessed bamboo resources outside forest areas using visual image interpretation via Collect Earth Online (CEO).
• Conducted laboratory work for biomass modeling and implemented QA/QC processes.
• Participated in LiDAR-based scanning field surveys in western Nepal.
• Applied research methodologies in forest data analytics and statistical analysis.
• Performed land use/land cover analysis, carbon mapping, and forest degradation/restoration mapping for carbon trade initiatives.

Field Crew Member – Digital Soil Mapping Project

• Participated in soil survey and sampling for the Digital Soil Mapping of Nepal initiative.
• Project led by CIMMYT in collaboration with NSSRC under the Nepal Agricultural Research Council (NARC).
• Collected and classified soil samples across diverse physiographic zones, focusing on physical and chemical properties.
• Analyzed characteristics such as texture, structure, porosity, pH, and organic matter directly in field soil pits.
• Contributed to a national soil information system integrating field data with satellite-derived covariates and machine learning for spatial prediction.
